The Holocaust
We will have the privilege of meeting a Holocaust Survivor at BCI on Thursday June 6th in the Library. Please come prepared to hear their story and engage by asking questions.

Pigeon is a short student film directed by Anthony Green based on the true story describing an occurrence in 1941 on a train from Remies to Grenoble in occupied France. A Jew, traveling without papers, is unexpectedly saved from the Nazis by an unknown woman traveling on the train. The film, made by Anthony Green, a third-year student of cinematography at NYU, was screened at the Jerusalem and Eilat festivals and other festivals around the world.

This documentary about the Trials combines both archival footage and modern-day interviews with trial participants who served in a variety of roles, including members of the legal team for the prosecution and a journalist reporting on the events for the press. The statements made and the views expressed, however, are solely the responsibility of the producer.

The Atomic Bomb
Called the best pilot in the World War II-era Army Air Force, Col. Paul Tibbets entered history as the pilot of the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, the aircraft that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. He later became a Brigadier General in the U.S. Army and died November 1, 2007 at the age of 92. The transcript of the interview also appears in the file attachment below.

Dieppe Raid
The Dieppe Raid was one of the costliest days for the Canadian Army in the entire Second World War. 907 Canadians were killed, in addition more than 2,500 were wounded or captured, all on August 19 of 1942.

-How does Disney criticize the Nazi regime and Hitler?
-Who is being represented by the different characters?
-Why would such cartoons be produced in the United States? How would this help or impeded the war effort?

1. Austria-Hungary split into 2 separate countries and decreased in size: Austria, Hungary
2. Poland was created and considered an independent country
3. The Ottoman Empire Split up and Turkey decreases in size and loses control. New control of the Middle East is split between Britain and France. New country of Iraq emerges.
4. Germany decreased in size
a. Easter Prussia was left aside and no longer German territory
b. Germany also gave up colonies
i. Present-day Namibia in Africa
ii. Jiaozhou Bay in China
5. Russia surrendered and gave up territory and decreased in size pushing it’s boarders further east
6. France regained portion of lost territory: Alsace and Lorraine
7. Creation of independent states for minority population previously a part of the fallen Empires
